With attention being predominantly on Oliver Glasner’s side in recent weeks, with the Austrian eyeing his fourth consecutive win against Fulham this afternoon, Laura Kaminski’ s women’s side have the chance to secure promotion to the Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Kaminski’s side host Sunderland Women, with a chance to win the Championship title, with just a point needed, also boasting an impressive +22 goal lead in goal difference ahead of second place Charlton.
It has been a prolific season for the Palace Women, recording their highest ever points tally.
It is expected to be capped with a record attendance at Selhurst, with over 6,000 tickets sold so far.
Kaminiski stated in her press conference: “We know it will be a fantastic day for the fans. I know already it’s broken a record in terms of highest number of fans in Selhurst Park, so we’re looking forward to that.
“I just want to say how proud I am of the players and the staff, and give my thanks to Steve (Parish), Dougie (Freedman), and the board regarding the support we’ve had over the year to get this over the line.”
Championship top scorer Elise Hughes will be out for the tie against Sunderland, after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during the win over Lewes last Sunday.
Scoring 16 goals in 21 appearances, Hughes will be sorely missed on the pitch tomorrow, however, will be in attendance at Selhurst to cheer her teammates over the line.
It guarantees to be a brilliant day for the Crystal Palace Women’s team, with a chance to lift some silverware in the sun at Selhurst Park.
Tickets are still available to purchase, starting at just £2 for Under-16s.
Best of luck to all the Women’s team tomorrow – everyone is behind you. 🔴🔵
