The long-awaited return to club football is finally over, with Palace making the long trip up north to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.
Sitting just one place above us in 8th, the Magpies have been a force to be reckoned with in recent weeks, earning a historic 4-1 victory at St James’ Park against French giants Paris Saint-German in early October.
Howe’s side notably also have a home fixture against German side Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday 25th, which could play into our hands in terms of whether Howe – and Jason Tindall of course – decide to rest some key players against us.
Team News
CPFC:
At last, some good news injury wise! In my last piece before the international break, I wrote that the 2-week hiatus could provide the medical team much needed time to nurse some players back to the bench/first team. This seems to have come good.
Hodgson today confirmed that summer signing Matheus França is available for selection on Saturday. Also returning to the side are midfielder duo Cheick Doucouré and Jefferson Lerma. Attacker Odsonne Edouard is also available for selection. Joel Ward,
We are, however, still without Ebere Eze and Michael Olise which is a blow. James Tomkins has also been confirmed to have sustained a calf injury in training on Thursday.
Despite Olise and Eze’s absence, that is a much-improved squad than before the international break.
NUFC:
Howe is confident that forward Joelinton will be available for selection. Alexander Isak will be assessed on the day for fitness. Midfielder Joe Willock is set to miss out on Saturday’s game.
Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali is available for selection after an investigation by the Italian Prosecutor’s Office and Italian Football Federation was launched in relation to illegal betting activity.

Match Prediction:
There is no denying Newcastle are on top form currently, and I see this being a very tough game for us today. Despite the return of some key players, I see us getting overrun away from home today. 2-0 Newcastle.
Safe travels to all making the long trip – Up the Palace 🔴🔵
